East of England Show 2009
FRIDAY 19th - sunday 21st june
gates Open 8am (Trade Stands Open 8.30am) - 6pm
This year’s East of England Show will be returning to its roots as a celebration of all things rural. The livestock classes will be building on last year’s success and hoping for even higher levels of entries this year. The Show always attracts some of the country’s finest livestock and the standard just seems to improve every year.
Horses of all shapes and sizes will feature strongly throughout the Show as always. Heavy horses and Showjumping will be returning to the main arena this year, guaranteeing an action packed equestrian timetable for spectators in the Grandstand.
Vintage agricultural machinery, steam and classic cars will have a larger section this year and the demonstrations and parades by these magnificent machines will be a treat for all nostalgia buffs.
Food remains at the heart of the Show and once again the children’s farm area will be there to instruct children on how their food gets from the farm to their plate. The Food Hall will contain many of the region’s best food and drink producers, selling their delicious produce. You will also be able to gain inspiration in the food demonstration theatre, while on Friday the finalists in the School Food Challenge will amaze you with their skills as they battle it out for this prestigious trophy.
Few will be able to resist the Peterborough International Orchid Show, which will be open on all three days of the Show, this year. As well as the fabulous orchids themselves and exhibitors coming from around the World, there will be a photographic competition, as well as displays of scientific and historical paintings.
Don’t forget to put this year’s Show dates in your diary now. Entry to the Show is free to Society members and there are also special members facilities available. To find out more about the benefits of membership and how to join, please click here.
