A Celebration of Hunting - Wednesday 17th July 2013
Welcome to the webpages for the Peterborough Festival of Hunting, organised by the Peterborough Royal Foxhound Show Society, The Association of Masters of Harriers & Beagles and the East of England Agricultural Society.
Record crowds expected for Festival of Hunting
The greatest gathering of hounds in the country takes place at The Festival of Hunting at The East of England Showground, Peterborough on Wednesday, July 17th.
This year organisers are expecting another record crowd for the event which is now recognised as the annual showcase for the world of hunting.
Hounds representing over 100 packs from across the UK will be at the Peterborough venue for this annual celebration.
The Festival of Hunting encompasses the 125th Peterborough Royal Foxhound Show – two leading events bringing hunting supporters together to meet socially and witness the very best hounds currently being bred in the country.
The Festival demonstrates the on-going support for hunting and its most precious asset – the working hound.
Displays of Harriers, Beagles, Basset Hounds, Mink Hounds, Drag Hounds and Terriers will take place. Fell, Stag Hounds and coursing dogs will also be attending.
In addition, there will be the ever-popular Inter-Hunt Senior and Junior Team Relays. Two opposing teams race against the clock over a mirror image set of fences - with a total of 64 teams from Hunts all over the country this is a very fiercely fought contest.
A wide range of specialist trade stands as well as catering and fresh local produce will be available for visitors to enjoy.
New for 2013 will be a variety of ridden and in hand horse classes to complement the Peterborough Royal Foxhound Show and also the Festival of Hunting. Schedules for this will be available from: Betsy Branyan, East of England Showground, Peterborough, Cambs., PE2 6XE in mid March.
Advance adult tickets begin from £8.50 and children (under 16 and accompanied by
an adult) are free. Gates open from 9am and car parking is free.
Entry to the Festival is free to members of Peterborough Royal Foxhound Show Society and the East of England Agricultural Society.
