Record crowds expected for Festival of Hunting

The greatest gathering of hounds in the country takes place at The Festival of Hunting at The East of England Showground, Peterborough on Wednesday, July 18th.

This year organisers are expecting another record crowd for the event which is now recognised as the annual showcase for the world of hunting.

Hounds representing over 100 packs from across the UK will be at the Peterborough venue for this annual celebration.

“The show has exceeded all our expectations,” explained Society Secretary David Ralley-Davies. “Now in its eighth year, it continues to grow and attract an even bigger following which is very pleasing to see.”

The Festival of Hunting encompasses the 124th Peterborough Royal Foxhound Show – two leading events bringing hunting supporters together to meet socially and witness the very best hounds currently being bred in the country.

The festival demonstrates the on-going support for hunting and its most precious asset – the working hound.

Displays of Harriers, Beagles, Bassest Mink Hounds, Drag Hounds, Blood Hounds and Terriers will take place. Fell, Stag Hounds and coursing dogs will also be working.

In addition, there will be Inter-Hunt and Pony Club team relays.

A wide range of specialist trade stands as well as catering and fresh local produce will be available for visitors to enjoy.

“The day is a celebration of hunting in all its guises and we welcome everyone to come along and make the most of this annual gathering,” added David.

Advance adult tickets begin from £7.50 and children (under 16 and accompanied by an adult) are free. Gates open from 9am and car parking is free.
