The Queen Mother’s Handwriting Awards are set to continue

By 17th April 2020News

The Queen Mother’s Handwriting Awards are still going ahead this year. We have spoken with the judges and will be changing the judging process to comply with the government guidelines regarding social distancing. This year all the entries will be posted to one of the judges who will do the first sift. Once this has been completed, photos will be taken of the remaining entries and sent to the other judges for them to decide collectively on the winners for each class. To allow time for the entries to be administered before posting to the judge it has been necessary to amend the closing date for entries. The deadline for entries to be received is now Friday 22nd May 2020.

We appreciate with many schools closed it may be difficult for teachers to coordinate the sending of the entries to us. It is possible for the children to enter independently, they still need to put all the information on the back of the entry. However, the parent/guardian can sign it instead of the teacher, it can then be posted to us in the usual way. We are still receiving entries from schools, if you have any entries please send them to us.

At this very surreal time, we felt with many children being home-schooled it would be a nice task that is easy for them to complete at home. If you would like to set this as a task for your pupils, the schedule and further details on the awards can be found here.

If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact us at recepetion@eastofengland.org.uk.
