Recognising the difficulties of buying and selling livestock in the South and East, The East of England Agricultural Society is pleased to launch its new 'Winter Stock Festival' on Friday 7th November 2008.
The Festival will include a Pedigree Multibreed Cattle Show & Sale as well as a Commercial Cattle Show & Sale. Our auctioneers for the day will be the experienced team from Newark Livestock Market, who will deal with all buyers and sellers requirements.
Held inside in the East of England Showground’s cattle and sheep buildings the festival is keen to encourage new and existing breeders and exhibitors. The night before the show and sale the Society will host a stockman’s dinner for all exhibitors and sponsors.
“With increasing fuel and feed costs, cattle breeders in the East and South of England are finding it increasingly harder to justify taking animals further afield to sales and need opportunities closer to home, so we are keen to offer those opportunities,” says Kerry Buttriss, Agricultural Manager at the Society.
Entry forms and schedules will be available at the beginning of June and space for trade stands and sponsorship is being welcomed.
Classes have been planned to offer class judging for most of the main native and Continental breeds, with commercial classes based on weight. Judges for these will be announced in the schedules.
