By 12th February 2020News

We are pleased to announce that the Society’s annual Shuttleworth Lecture will take place on 31 March at Shuttleworth College and we are pleased to welcome Nick Evans, the Managing Director and Co-Founder at Oxbury Bank.

After graduating in agriculture from Aberystwyth University, he has spent most of his career in financial services and the agricultural industry. Nick joined ICI plc in the Fertilisers division in sales and marketing where he stayed for 5 years. He then joined Bank of Scotland, now Lloyds Banking Group, as the Managing Director of NFU Mutual Finance. After 12 years he left the Bank in 2000 as Senior Director of Agriculture.

Nick then went on to set up First4Farming Limited (F4F) in 2000 with 12 of the leading players in the agriculture and farming sector. F4F became the leading specialist IT integration and solution provider for the agricultural and animal-health supply network across Europe, North America, Asia and Southern Africa. F4F was acquired by RELX PLC (a FTSE 100 member) in 2015 as part of Proagrica.

In 2018 Nick co-founded Oxbury through a shared vision of building the UK’s specialist bank to provide farmers with the lending they need to run their farms and provide savings accounts to anyone that wants to support British agriculture. Oxbury received approval to be an authorised bank in January 2020. As Managing Director Nick leads the commercial operations of Oxbury, focusing on sales and administration processes to deliver an excellent, differentiated experience for savings and farmer customers.
