Purpose & Charitable Impact
The East of England Agricultural Society has a rich history dating back to 1797. The core goals of the Society are much the same now as they were at its inception, focused around promoting agriculture and rural life in the East of England.
The Society, who are a registered charity, are currently based at the East of England Showground in Peterborough and from here run a number of initiatives to help promote agriculture and rural life across the counties of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire and beyond.
Charitable activities include Kids Country- our children’s education programme, our Scholars Programme- which is to help drive leadership in the agricultural sector and the Marshal Papworth Fund- that helps teach sustainable agriculture practices to those in developing countries. The Society are also responsible for the administration of the Peterborough Royal Foxhound Show.
In the future we will be offering grants to further promote food, farming and the rural community.
At the heart of the organisation is a membership which is open to all. Our membership helps support the Society’s charitable objectives.
