Bedfordshire Dinner 2026

By 13th March 2026News

Brussels sprouts were back on the menu for this years Bedfordshire Dinner! The vegetable that has a historic connection for the scale and popularity of its growth within the county was reintroduced to the menu following a few requests from guests at last years event. The sprouts made a fantastic accompaniment to the ribs of beef, that were sourced by Woburn Country Foods and deliciously prepared and served by the Portfolio Events team.

Comedian Ian Irving joined us as the guest speaker for the evening, entertaining guests after dinner in the partially refurbished Bedford Corn Exchange (we look forward to being the first guests on site following phase 2 of the refurbishments in 2027!).

We’d like to thank all the guests who made charitable donations to the Bedfordshire Agricultural Education Foundation on the night, raising just over £2600 to enable the development of their Food, Farming and Sustainability Day that will run in June for year 6 primary school children from Bedford and the surrounding area.

Many thanks to all the attendees, suppliers and committee who made this event such a success.

Dinner chairman, Sam Franklin dedicated this years event to Tim Stanbridge, who chaired our 2025 dinner and was due to continue the role this year, but unfortunately had to step back due to ill health. Tim unfortunately passed away in February, our thoughts are with his family and friends, and we are thankful for Tim’s input on the Bedfordshire Dinner committee over recent years.
