Kids Country

Kids Country is the East of England Agricultural Society’s education programme aimed at children in KS1 & 2. The programme aims to teach children about agriculture and the origin of where their food comes from.

With hands on workshops delivered in school our programme allows for an exciting day of learning that links food and farming with the curriculum.

Sacrewell Farm are currently running the Kids Country Programme with funding from the East of England Agricultural Society.

A brief Kids Country history

Kids Country was established as a continuation of Kids Kitchen, a popular area at the East of England Summer Show.  When the show ended in 2012, the society recognised the importance of food and farming education for children and thus Kids Country was established.

Kids Country ran events at the East of England Showground- A food and farming day, potato planting and harvesting days, pollination and berry workshops and many more. The events on the Showground welcomed tens of thousands of students from KS1 & KS2, from both local schools and further afield.

The Food and Farming day was the largest of the Kids Country events and at its peak, welcomed 8000 school children on the day. Students watched live machinery and sheep shearing demonstrations, got to sit in a combine harvester, made sausages, took part in a mock livestock auction and so many other activities.

With the increasing cost of transport and tighter school budgets, the Kids Country Programme pivoted in 2022 to delivering workshops in schools.
