The East of England Agricultural Society has a rich history dating back to 1797. The core goals of the Society are much the same now as they were at its inception, with the focus centered around promoting agriculture and rural life in the East of England.
The Society, who are a registered charity, are currently based at the East of England Showground in Peterborough and from here run a full programme of activities that cater to the areas urban and rural populations.
Our events programme ranges from livestock events to conferences, for more information about our events, take a look at our event page.
At the heart of the organisation is a membership which is open to all and helps support the Society’s charitable objectives alongside the wider agricultural industry and rural way of life. In return, members are entitled to a number of benefits such as discounted event entry, volunteer opportunities and bursary applications.
The Society works hard to develop collaboration opportunities with other charities and educational bodies and regularly supports local Young Farmers Clubs and livestock clubs.
The Society is the parent company of the East of England Arena and Event Centre. The Arena are responsible for the commercial use of the Showground site – a site that can park up to 22000 cars and has within it, over 20 miles of roadway and a 2500 seater grandstand, recently refurbished conferencing facilities and a modern exhibition hall. All profits from the Arena and Event Centre are used to support the Agricultural Society and its charitable goals.
