A Christmas message from Kids Country

A Christmas message from Kids Country!

Kids Country have been thrilled to get back to a full year of our events programme, with over 3,000 children from primary schools across the East of England receiving hands-on food and farming experiences with us.

2022 kicked off with our ever-popular Breakfast Week, before we welcomed schools back to the East of England Showground for our Grow Your Own Produce event in March. In no time at all it was back to the Showground to harvest the potatoes that the children planted in the Spring, with the Food and Farming Day following quickly behind – it was so wonderful to have so many schools back at the event and the support of our educators from across the farming, food production and horticultural sectors was amazing as always.

The autumn saw the return of our All About Apples with three schools now looking after brand new apple trees for future generations to enjoy, and Breakfast Week was as popular as ever in November.

A huge thank you to all of the schools that took part in a Kids Country event in 2022, it was wonderful to see so many engaged children, and know that they have all taken away just a little bit more understanding about the food that they eat and how it is grown. We would also like to thank the tireless work of our volunteers – they all give up their time so readily and we simply could not reach as many schools without you.

Our corporate friends have been as supportive as ever, with a new partnership with Schöffel Country resulting in an incredible £17,950 donation – watch this space for our plans for that! We must also thank Co-op Central England, Burgess Farms, Marriages Flour, Albert Bartlett Potatoes, Ladies in Pigs, for the various volunteers and sponsored items they have helped with in 2022 – thank you so much!

Our 2023 programme looks really exciting, and don’t forget, we can always work with schools to develop bespoke events to support your curriculum.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Sandra and the Kids Country team.
